Oncology RN Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of professional Registered Nurse experience; oncology, outpatient oncology, or infusion nursing experience preferred
• Current, unencumbered Utah RN license or compact-state RN license
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current ONS Provider certification required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Wound Care certification preferred but not required
• Knowledge of infection control principles, patient safety practices, and prevention of adverse medication or treatment reactions
• Strong critical-thinking, communication, and patient education skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small clinical team
• Professional handling of sensitive information and strict confidentiality
• Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or rapidly changing situations
• Reliable, punctual, flexible, and willing to support additional nursing duties as needed
• Full COVID-19 vaccination or an approved exemption

Outpatient Oncology RN Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate outpatient nursing care to oncology patients throughout their treatment experience
• Administer infusion therapy and chemotherapy in accordance with established protocols and oncology patient safety standards
• Perform wound care and other general nursing services based on patient needs
• Monitor patients for treatment responses, medication reactions, and changes in clinical condition
• Apply infection prevention and patient safety practices consistently
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, follow-up care, and when to report concerns
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate relevant updates to the oncology care team
• Build trusting relationships with patients through attentive, individualized care
• Adapt to the wide-ranging responsibilities of an outpatient nursing role in a rural healthcare setting
