Travel Nursing Job Details

• Specialty: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse – Orthopedic and Spine
• Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,710-$1,800
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights, approximately 6:45 p.m.-7:15 a.m.
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours
• Patient Population: Adults, including orthopedic, neuro spine, medical-surgical, and post-surgical patients
• Typical Patient Ratio: Approximately 6-7 patients per nurse
• Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend required
• Float Requirement: Must be willing to float to other medical-surgical units as needed
• Orientation: 36 hours

Med/Surg Telemetry RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a compact state
• At least 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience
• Required orthopedic nursing experience, including post-operative orthopedic or spine care
• Current BLS certification
• Current NIHSS certification
• Recent Epic electronic medical record charting experience
• Demonstrated competency with IV starts, telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, oxygen therapy, isolation precautions, central line care, blood product administration, PCA therapy, surgical drains, and peripheral line management
• Ability to manage complex pain-control needs and multiple post-operative medications
• Strong communication, organization, clinical judgment, and customer-service skills
• ACLS certification and charge nurse experience are preferred

Med/Surg Telemetry Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to adult orthopedic, spine, medical-surgical, and post-surgical patients
• Monitor telemetry and recognize changes in patient condition or cardiac rhythm
• Perform nursing assessments, administer medications, and evaluate patient responses to treatment
• Manage post-operative pain using multiple medication modalities while promoting comfort and recovery
• Care for patients with total joint replacements, orthopedic trauma, spinal conditions, and post-neurosurgical needs
• Maintain IV access and manage central lines, surgical drains, PCA therapy, and other relevant equipment
• Collaborate with physicians, therapy services, respiratory care, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient status, escalating concerns according to clinical protocols
• Document patient care accurately in Epic
• Float to other medical-surgical areas when needed to support safe staffing and continuity of care
