Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state where care is provided
• At least 1 year of recent full-time equivalent registered nursing experience within the past 3 years
• Recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• High-risk Labor & Delivery or High-Risk OB experience preferred
• Five or more years of recent Labor & Delivery experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field preferred

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients, postpartum patients, and newborns according to clinical standards and patient needs.
• Monitor maternal and fetal status, recognize changes in condition, and promptly escalate concerns.
• Assist with labor management, delivery preparation, and care for patients experiencing high-risk obstetric conditions.
• Administer medications and treatments safely while documenting assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes.
• Support neonatal stabilization and resuscitation practices within the scope of training and certification.
• Educate patients and families throughout the labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum process.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, anesthesia professionals, and the broader maternal-child healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and promote a safe, compassionate patient experience.
