Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical Float in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Join a collaborative acute-care nursing team as a Travel Registered Nurse supporting medical-surgical units in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers an experienced Med-Surg RN the opportunity to care for a diverse adult patient population while floating across medical units in a high-acuity hospital environment. Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,360-$2,480
• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• End Date: February 1, 2027
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 36 hours per week; 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Three weekend shifts during each four-week period
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
• Electronic Health Record: Epic
• Orientation: Hospital orientation, nursing orientation, and Epic training

Medical-Surgical Travel RN Requirements

• At least 1.5 years of experience in a Level I, Level II, or tertiary-care setting
• At least 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience in a large hospital environment of approximately 450 beds or more
• Active Indiana Registered Nurse license or eligible compact RN license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate patient care across medical-surgical units
• Comfort floating to other medical units based on patient-care needs
• Caribbean blue scrubs required

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care to patients with varied diagnoses and levels of acuity
• Assess patients, develop and update care plans, administer medications, and evaluate outcomes
• Care for patients with COPD, diabetes, congestive heart failure, end-stage renal disease, pancreatitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, pneumonia, sepsis, stroke, dementia, and other acute medical conditions
• Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, minor surgery, incision and drainage, biopsy, and amputation
• Manage IV therapy, IV pumps, heparin and insulin infusions, chest tubes, feeding tubes, wound vacuums, feeding pumps, telemetry, and blood glucose monitoring
• Use Epic, medication-dispensing technology, and other clinical equipment to document and coordinate patient care
• Communicate effectively with providers, therapists, support staff, patients, and families
• Float to medical units where nursing support is needed while maintaining high standards of safety and patient-centered care
