Travel Nursing Job Details

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med/Surg RN) – Surgical Acute
• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Healthcare Setting: 63-bed acute care surgical unit
• Schedule: 36 hours per week; 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, including Saturday and Sunday
• Holiday Requirement: Rotating holiday coverage
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130-$2,250

Travel Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license or confirmation that the Illinois RN license application process has been initiated
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical or surgical acute care nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Demonstrated experience caring for post-operative, trauma, and medical-surgical patients
• Strong critical-thinking, communication, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills
• Ability to provide compassionate bedside nursing care in a fast-paced acute care environment
• Willingness to float to units requiring a comparable level of nursing experience

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to post-operative, trauma, overflow medical, and surgical patients
• Complete patient assessments, administer medications, monitor patient status, and promptly communicate changes to the healthcare team
• Manage wound care, dressing changes, drains, nasogastric tubes, central lines, IV therapy, pain management, and total parenteral nutrition (TPN)
• Care for patients receiving heparin therapy and monitor therapeutic response and potential complications
• Support patients requiring CPAP and high-flow therapies in collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Coordinate care with patient care technicians, charge nurses, providers, and interdisciplinary team members
• Promote safe mobility, activities of daily living, patient education, and discharge readiness
• Float appropriately when needed while maintaining safe, effective, and patient-centered care
