PACU Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Nursing Contract – Sitka, Alaska
Join a collaborative perioperative team as a PACU Registered Nurse (RN) on a 13-week travel nursing assignment in Sitka, Alaska. Provide high-quality post-anesthesia, pre-operative, and operating room care in a rural critical-access hospital while supporting elective and emergency surgical cases. Sitka is a scenic coastal community in Southeast Alaska, known for breathtaking mountain views, abundant outdoor recreation, and a distinctive small-town atmosphere.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $3,000-$3,160
- Location: Sitka, Alaska
- Healthcare Setting: Operating Room, Pre-Op, and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- Schedule: 4 shifts per week; 10-hour day shifts, Tuesday through Friday
- On-Call: Required approximately 1 out of every 3 rotations, including coverage for nights, weekends, and holidays
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Contract: 13-week travel nurse assignment
- Start Date: November 23, 2026
- Work Arrangement: On-site
PACU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 3 years of operating room nursing experience
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an associate degree, diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current, full, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska at the time of submission
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Strong PACU, perioperative, pre-operative, and operating room circulating experience
- Ability to provide on-call coverage as scheduled
- Experience in a critical-access hospital or rural operating room is strongly preferred
Perioperative RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures
- Monitor patients during post-anesthesia recovery, assess clinical status, and identify changes requiring intervention
- Support pre-operative preparation and assist with operating room circulating responsibilities as needed
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, nurses, and other members of the perioperative team
- Help ensure surgical cases progress efficiently and safely throughout the day
- Support elective and emergency procedures across specialties including abdominal, thoracic, urology, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, vascular, and OB/GYN
- Participate in scheduled after-hours call coverage for operating room needs
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow established standards for patient safety, infection prevention, and recovery care
