Travel CVICU Registered Nurse opportunity in San Antonio, Texas, providing high-acuity cardiac and surgical patient care.
Join a high-acuity cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) team in San Antonio, Texas, where you will provide specialized care to critically ill cardiac and post-surgical patients. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,460-$1,540
- Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) / Critical Care Nursing
- Location: San Antonio, Texas
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: September 22, 2026
- Shift: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.-7:30 a.m.; rotating weekends
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Call: Not required
- Openings: 2
CVICU Travel RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas
- At least 2 years of intensive care unit (ICU) or critical care nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Current NIH Stroke Scale certification
- Experience with hemodynamic monitoring, including Swan-Ganz catheters and arterial lines
- Ventilator management experience
- Strong critical-thinking and clinical assessment skills
- Willingness to float according to unit and facility guidelines
- Experience with Meditech charting and order entry is preferred
- Exposure to intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP) and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is preferred
CVICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular and post-surgical patients
- Monitor and interpret complex hemodynamic data, including Swan-Ganz and arterial line measurements
- Manage patients requiring mechanical ventilation and advanced cardiac support
- Care for patients recovering from CABG procedures, VAD procedures, and cardiac catheterization
- Monitor patients receiving support from devices such as IABP, Impella, and ECMO
- Recognize changes in patient condition and implement timely interventions
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate treatment plans
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and patient-centered care environment
