• Setting: Hospital-based children’s hospital environment
• Shift: Day shift, 3 x 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Shifts per Week: 3
• Hours per Week: 36
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,810-$1,940
• Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Location: Charlottesville, VA 22908

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience required
• Level IV NICU experience required
• Cardiac PICU experience preferred
• Current RRT certification required
• Active BLS and NRP certifications required
• Virginia respiratory therapist license required; pending license accepted if a temporary license can be obtained before start and another state license is held
• ACCS certification preferred
• PALS certification preferred
• Strong competency with neonatal and pediatric respiratory equipment, including Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and float within scope as needed

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care for neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatric patients
• Support NICU, PICU, high-risk deliveries, and acute care pediatric patients
• Deliver respiratory interventions such as airway support, suctioning, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, aerosol therapy, and ventilator management
• Assist with intubation, extubation, and neonatal transport when needed
• Operate specialized equipment and assist with high-frequency ventilation in critical care settings
• Interpret ABGs and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other care team members to ensure safe, high-quality care
• Adapt to a self-scheduling model while maintaining dependable coverage for weekends and holidays
