• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,770-$2,060
• Setting: Operating Room / Perioperative Services
• Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
• Shifts Per Week: 3
• Schedule: Day shift schedule; call rotation required, including one call shift per week and one weekend call shift every 6 weeks; holiday call coverage as needed
• Hours Per Week: 36
• Location: Portsmouth, Virginia

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience required
• NBSTSA certification required
• Orthopedic surgical experience required
• DaVinci robotic surgery experience preferred
• Current BLS certification required
• Active Virginia licensure required, if applicable
• Ability to work effectively in a sterile, high-acuity surgical environment
• Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, aseptic technique, and intraoperative support

Responsibilities

• Function as the scrub person during operative and other invasive procedures
• Prepare and organize sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical cases
• Maintain the sterile field and take corrective action when needed to preserve sterility
• Assist with sterile draping and provide instruments and supplies to the surgical team throughout procedures
• Perform surgical counts with the circulating RN according to policy
• Retrieve, collect, and appropriately label specimens
• Communicate implanted devices, catheters, drains, and packing to the circulator
• Anticipate case needs and adapt to special instrument and equipment requirements
• Support patient safety, patient rights, and age-appropriate care throughout the perioperative process
• Assist with CPR and emergency support as needed
