Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Columbus, Ohio

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940-$2,040
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• Location: Columbus, Ohio
• Healthcare Setting: Adult medical-surgical and telemetry unit
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts, approximately 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
• Weekend Coverage: Approximately 3-4 weekend days per month
• Patient Population: Adults and older adults; approximately 4 patients per nurse
• Documentation: EPIC electronic medical record
• Orientation: 36 hours

Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Ohio RN license or compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
• At least 1 year of registered nursing experience, preferably in medical-surgical or telemetry care
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• IV certification and demonstrated competence with starting and maintaining IVs
• Experience with EPIC is preferred
• Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
• Strong communication, critical-thinking, organization, and multitasking skills
• Ability to complete Ohio credentialing and fingerprinting requirements promptly
• Two professional references, including at least one manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
• Progressive care or PCU experience is not required

Medical-Surgical and Telemetry Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical and telemetry patients
• Assess patients, monitor vital signs and clinical responses, and promptly communicate changes in condition
• Start and manage peripheral IVs, administer medications, and provide IV antibiotics according to established protocols
• Interpret dysrhythmias and respond appropriately to changes in cardiac status
• Manage and monitor patients with complex medical conditions, including organ failure, altered level of consciousness, behavioral concerns, and substance withdrawal
• Provide care involving PICC lines, chest tubes, Foley catheters, paracentesis, lumbar punctures, and other medical-surgical procedures as appropriate
• Educate patients and families regarding treatments, medications, recovery, and self-care
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC
• Collaborate with physicians, therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Float to other appropriate units within the organization as patient-care needs require
• Follow infection-prevention practices, hospital policies, and patient-safety standards
