PICU Travel Nurse – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse Contract in Downey, California

PICU Travel Nurse Job Details
- Nursing Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $3,030-$3,190
- Nursing Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Start Date: October 12, 2026
- Contract End Date: January 16, 2027
- Contract Length: Approximately 14 weeks
- Work Setting: On-site pediatric hospital setting
- Location: Downey, California, near the greater Los Angeles area
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit RN Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent full-time equivalent Registered Nurse experience within the past 3 years
- Recent PICU, pediatric critical care, or related acute care nursing experience
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current Registered Nurse license valid in California
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Maternal Child Health (MCH) RN certification or qualification
- Strong pediatric assessment, critical thinking, patient monitoring, and clinical communication skills
PICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
- Monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and respond promptly to pediatric emergencies
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to established care plans
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Support pediatric patients and families through education, communication, and compassionate bedside nursing care
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record
- Maintain a safe, organized, and infection-prevention-focused PICU environment
