Certified Surgical Technologist (OR Tech) – Labor & Delivery/OB | 13-Week Travel Job in Charlottesville, VA
Join our healthcare team as a certified Surgical Technologist (OR Tech) supporting Labor & Delivery and OB operating room procedures on an overnight travel assignment in Charlottesville, Virginia. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced OB surgical technologist who can confidently assist with scheduled, urgent, and emergent obstetric surgery. Travel OR Tech Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,260-$1,350
- Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
- Healthcare Setting: On-site operating room supporting Labor & Delivery
- Start Date: October 26, 2026
- Assignment End Date: January 25, 2027
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Shift Duration: 12 hours
- Shifts per Week: 3
- Hours per Week: 36
- Holiday Requirement: Work two of the three winter holidays
- Time Off: Up to 40 hours may be approved during the assignment
Certified Surgical Technologist and OB OR Tech Requirements
- At least 2 years of operating room or obstetric surgical technology experience
- Previous Labor & Delivery and OB operating room experience required
- NBSTSA certification required
- Valid Virginia registration or state authorization required by the designated pre-start deadline
- Current BLS certification required
- Epic experience required unless otherwise approved
- Experience with case carts, surgical scrubbing, cystoscopy, and obstetric procedures
- Ability to support adult patients and complex maternal-fetal cases
- Flu vaccination required
- References and copies of required certifications must be available
Labor & Delivery Surgical Technologist Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, supplies, instruments, and case carts for scheduled, urgent, and emergent procedures
- Scrub and assist with cesarean sections, cesarean hysterectomies, bilateral tubal ligations, dilation and curettage, cerclage, and other obstetric procedures
- Support vaginal deliveries involving twins or triplets when operative assistance is required
- Assist with gynecologic, laparoscopic, hysterectomy, cystoscopy, sterilization, and related surgical procedures
- Maintain aseptic technique and support sterilization and disinfection standards
- Prepare and manage specialized equipment, including cystoscopy equipment and other Labor & Delivery surgical supplies
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during routine, high-risk, and emergent cases
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, anesthesia professionals, and the interdisciplinary care team to promote safe, efficient patient care
- Float within the scope of practice as needed
