Travel Medical Technologist Job Details

• Location: Escanaba, Michigan

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,810-$1,940
• Schedule: 40 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 8-hour shifts
• Typical Shifts: 1:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m. or 3:00 p.m.-11:30 p.m.; occasional day or third-shift coverage may be needed

Medical Technologist and Medical Laboratory Scientist Requirements

• At least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience, including generalist responsibilities
• Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification through ASCP
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Experience with manual blood bank workflows, including tube testing and antibody identification
• Competency performing manual peripheral blood and body fluid differentials
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and collect blood specimens
• Working knowledge of chemistry, hematology/coagulation, blood bank, urinalysis, and limited microbiology procedures
• Ability to work independently and adapt to variable scheduling in a hospital laboratory

Travel Lab Technologist Responsibilities

• Perform clinical laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology/coagulation, blood bank, urinalysis, and limited microbiology departments
• Complete manual blood bank testing, antibody identification, and related transfusion-service procedures
• Perform peripheral blood and body fluid differentials using established laboratory protocols
• Collect blood specimens through phlebotomy and ensure accurate specimen identification and processing
• Conduct Gram stains, rapid testing, culture setup, and other limited microbiology procedures as assigned
• Operate and maintain familiarity with laboratory systems and equipment, including Epic, WellSky Blood Bank, Abbott Alinity, Sysmex XN-2000, Stago Compact Max, and Siemens Novus
• Document laboratory results accurately and promptly while following quality, safety, and compliance standards
• Collaborate with laboratory and clinical teams to support timely, accurate patient results
