Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in a hospital or acute-care setting
• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist credentials appropriate for hospital practice
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications
• Recent EPIC experience
• Ability to work independently during overnight shifts and adapt to changing patient-care needs
• Strong respiratory assessment, communication, collaboration, and clinical decision-making skills

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy services to hospital patients across a range of acuity levels
• Assess, monitor, and document patients’ respiratory status and response to treatment
• Administer respiratory treatments and therapies according to established clinical protocols
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to support safe, effective patient care
• Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies and assist with critical interventions within scope of practice
• Accurately document respiratory care, treatments, and clinical information in EPIC
• Maintain a high standard of patient safety, clinical quality, and professionalism while working varied schedules
