Locum Tenens Nurse Practitioner Job Details

• Location: Newport News, Virginia, with coverage across selected surrounding counties
• Healthcare Setting: In-home member visits and home-based health assessments
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $720-$860
• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• Contract Duration: Approximately 52 weeks
• Schedule: 1 shift per week
• Shift Duration: 8-hour days
• Hours of Operation: 7 days a week, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Visit Length: Approximately 1 hour per assessment, including documentation
• Daily Coverage: Travel between member homes, with routes of up to approximately 120 miles per day depending on territory

Nurse Practitioner Job Requirements

• Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the applicable state
• Current board certification through ANCC, AANP, or AACN
• At least 1 year of Nurse Practitioner experience
• Qualified specialty background in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care, Family, Emergency, or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner practice
• New graduates are not eligible for this opportunity
• Strong clinical judgment and the ability to practice independently in a home-based healthcare setting
• Comfort working alone in a variety of neighborhoods, including underserved areas
• Ability to manage schedule changes, no-shows, and last-minute cancellations professionally
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the selected coverage territory

Home Health Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities

• Conduct annual Health Risk Assessments during one-on-one visits in member homes
• Perform comprehensive physical examinations and review current medications
• Evaluate social, functional, and environmental factors that may affect overall health
• Complete basic point-of-care testing, such as A1C and FIT testing; blood draws are not required
• Provide patient education and identify health concerns requiring additional attention
• Complete and submit each assessment through the assigned tablet on the same day
• Use the provided tablet for assessment documentation, communication, email, training, and reference materials
• Travel between scheduled member homes within the selected counties
• Maintain a professional, compassionate, and patient-centered approach during every home visit
