Travel Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery Job in Crescent City, California
Travel Labor & Delivery RN needed in Crescent City, CA for a supportive Family Birth Center team delivering compassionate, hands-on maternal and newborn care in a rural LDRP setting.
Join a collaborative Family Birth Center team in beautiful Crescent City, California, where the redwoods meet the Pacific Coast. This travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse opportunity offers the chance to provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a rural LDRP environment that values clinical confidence, adaptability, and teamwork. The unit supports labor and delivery, postpartum, newborn care, and newborn stabilization for transport, with an average annual birth volume of approximately 225.

- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3 x 12-hour day shifts (07:00-19:00)
- Schedule: Every other weekend
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,510-$2,640
- Orientation: 40 hours
- Weekend Coverage: Required
- Float/Call: Occasionally based on census needs
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience required
- Active California Registered Nurse license
- Current ACLS, BLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring certifications
- Experience with labor, postpartum, newborn care, and maternal health preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently in a rural birth center setting
- Comfort with common L&D procedures, patient education, and bedside nursing care
- Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in labor, postpartum, and newborn services
- Monitor fetal status and support safe labor progression using fetal monitoring equipment
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean section recovery, and newborn stabilization
- Support antepartum, postpartum, and triage assessments with compassionate, patient-centered care
- Perform newborn assessments, circumcision care support, phototherapy support, and screening exams
- Administer medications and treatments such as magnesium sulfate, pitocin, and IV therapy as ordered
- Educate and support parents in breastfeeding, newborn care, and discharge teaching
- Collaborate with the care team to maintain high-quality outcomes in a supportive Family Birth Center environment
