• Setting: Labor & Delivery / Postpartum / Newborn Care
• Location: Eureka, CA 95501
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,480 – $2,610 per week
• Schedule: Day shifts, 12 hours each
• Hours per Week: 36
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: ASAP
• Orientation: 40 hours
• Employment Type: Travel RN / Travel Nurse
• Charting System: Epic experience required
• Weekend Coverage: Required as needed to meet staffing needs
• Float: May float within scope to meet facility needs
• Patient Census: Approximately 15-20 daily

Job Requirements

• Active California Registered Nurse license required; compact license must be in hand at submission
• Minimum of 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience required
• Experience with high-risk obstetrics preferred
• Previous postpartum nursing experience preferred
• Current ACLS, BLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications required
• Strong Epic charting experience required
• Ability to care for a culturally diverse patient population
• Comfortable with cesarean section circulation and obstetric emergencies
• Reliable, adaptable, and willing to float within scope as needed
• Must be available to work 3 of the 5 major holidays as scheduled
• References required during compliance process and prior to start

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate care for laboring, postpartum, and newborn patients
• Support vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and recovery care in a fast-paced Labor & Delivery unit
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using standard obstetric assessment tools
• Assist with high-risk deliveries and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
• Perform newborn assessments, thermoregulation support, and breastfeeding education
• Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and newborn care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to promote excellent patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
• Follow unit protocols for safety, infection prevention, and patient-centered care
• Adapt to staffing needs while maintaining a professional, team-oriented approach
